Snap has announced it will begin deleting Memories for users who have more than 5 GB of memories and are not on a paid Snapchat plan once its 12-month grace period ends, around September 2026 (Snap has not published an exact date). If you have more than 5 GB of Memories and are not on a paid Snapchat plan, your memories are at risk of deletion once Snapchat ends its 12-month grace period, around September 2026.

Snap has not published an exact date. It announced a 12-month grace period (starting September 29, 2025), so deletion is expected around September 2026. We recommend completing your export well before then because the Snapchat data export process itself can take up to 24 hours, and Snap's servers may slow down as the deadline approaches and more users rush to export at once.

Even if the deadline moves, the underlying risk doesn't go away. Keeping irreplaceable personal photos tied to a third-party app indefinitely is never the safest strategy. Exporting now costs you nothing and means your Memories are yours permanently, regardless of what Snap decides.

SnapEasy comes in two versions. The offline app runs entirely on your own computer. Your memories never leave your device, and processing speed depends on your hardware. The online service does the work on our servers. You upload your export and we email you a finished archive, so it works on any device with nothing to install.
Choose the offline app if privacy is your top priority or you have a very large archive. Choose the online service if you want the simplest, zero-install experience. Both produce the exact same organized archive.

Snapchat exports your Memories, but the raw export is a technical data package, not a usable photo library. It comes without metadata, GPS info is stripped, captions and overlays are separated from the base media, and file names are meaningless. SnapEasy converts that export into a clean, organized, and fully usable photo and video archive by restoring original dates, rewriting GPS coordinates, and stitching overlays and captions back onto your media.

When you export from Snapchat, the files lose their original date and GPS metadata, that's just how Snapchat does it. Every photo and video gets stamped with today's date. SnapEasy reads the originals from your export and updates their names and metadata to restore the correct dates and locations, so your photos and videos will be organized properly in Google Photos, Apple Photos, and other apps.

SnapEasy processes the standard Snapchat data export, which comes as one or more ZIP files. You do not need to unzip or reorganize anything first. Just point SnapEasy at the ZIP file(s) you get from Snapchat and it handles the rest. The output is a new ZIP file with your photos and videos organized by date and all metadata restored.

No we do not sell your data. We do not work with any other third-party. We do not and will not use it for any sort of AI training. We ourselves do not use it in any way outside of the designated functionality of our app; unzipping it, fixing your memories, and zipping it all back up. Open Snapchat and tap your profile icon. Tap the gear icon to open Settings. Scroll to Privacy Controls and tap My Data. Make sure Memories is selected, then tap Submit Request. Snapchat will email you a download link, typically within a few hours.

Usually between 1 - 3 days. Accounts with very large Memories archives may take longer. We recommend submitting your request well in advance of when you want to process it.

Snapchat's download links are time-limited. If yours expires, go back to My Data in Settings and submit a new export request.

My Eyes Only is Snapchat's password-protected private vault. Memories you've moved into My Eyes Only are hidden behind a separate passcode and are not included in the standard Snapchat data export.

No, and neither will any other tool. My Eyes Only memories can only be accessed through the Snapchat app using your passcode. They are not included in the data export Snap sends you until you manually move them out of the vault first.

Before requesting your Snapchat data export, open Snapchat, go into My Eyes Only, and move any memories you want to keep back into your regular Memories. Finally, request the export of your data. Once they're out of the vault, they'll be included in your export.

Your archive arrives as one or more ZIP files. Very large archives are split into multiple parts. Inside, your photos and videos are organized by date with clean, meaningful file names.

Yes. Once SnapEasy restores the EXIF metadata, your photos and videos will appear in the correct chronological position in Google Photos and the same restoration helps Apple Photos/iCloud sort and display everything correctly, including location data.

Yes. SnapEasy processes both photos and videos, restoring metadata and stitching overlays where applicable.

SnapEasy stitches overlays back onto the base media so the exported file looks the way the Snap looked when you took it, not a stripped raw photo with a separate overlay file alongside it.

Some memories may no longer be on Snapchat's servers. This is normal for older content. Unavailable ones are skipped; the rest are still processed and delivered.
